This research investigates how English as a Second Language (ESL) learners in Uzbekistan perceive and understand communicative competence within their educational framework. The study explores students' awareness of competency-based language instruction and examines how activity-oriented teaching methodologies contribute to developing communicative abilities among foreign language learners. Despite widespread recognition of communicative competence as essential for language mastery, numerous ESL students encounter difficulties applying English effectively across various communicative situations. Through systematic analysis of 602 university students' responses collected via digital survey instruments, this investigation reveals considerable variation in learner perceptions regarding communicative competence implementation. Findings demonstrate predominantly positive attitudes among participants toward integrating communicative competence frameworks into Uzbekistan's English language education system
