Abstract

In non-English-speaking countries, the demand for effective Business English writing competence has increased significantly due to globalization, international trade, and academic mobility. However, traditional English for Specific Purposes (ESP) instruction often fails to address learners’ professional writing needs in authentic and flexible ways. This study investigates the effectiveness of mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) in enhancing Business English writing skills among university students in a non-English-speaking educational context. Using a quasi-experimental design, the study compares mobile application–based ESP instruction with traditional classroom-based instruction over a twelve-week period. Data collected through pre- and post-writing assessments, analytic scoring rubrics, and learner questionnaires reveal statistically significant improvements in lexical accuracy, genre awareness, coherence, and task fulfillment among students exposed to mobile-assisted instruction. The findings confirm that mobile applications constitute an effective pedagogical tool for Business English writing development in non-English-speaking contexts and offer practical implications for ESP curriculum design and international higher education
