LANGUAGE DIPLOMACY: THE ROLE OF ENGLISH TEACHING AND TRANSLATION IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Abstract

Language plays a crucial role in diplomacy, shaping communication, mutual understanding, and cooperation among nations. In the contemporary globalized world, English has emerged as the dominant lingua franca in international relations, diplomacy, education, and global governance. This article examines the role of English language teaching and translation as strategic tools of language diplomacy. Using a qualitative methodological approach, the study analyzes how English education and translation practices contribute to diplomatic engagement, cultural exchange, and international cooperation. The findings demonstrate that English teaching enhances soft power, while translation ensures inclusivity, accuracy, and cross-cultural understanding in diplomatic contexts. The article concludes with recommendations for strengthening language policies in international relations
