FORMATION OF NEGATIVE SENTENCES IN THE KOREAN LANGUAGE

Abstract

This paper examines the ways of forming negative sentences in language, as well as their grammatical and semantic characteristics. The main means of expressing negation are analyzed, including negative particles, affixes, function words, and intonational patterns. Special attention is paid to the interaction of negation with the categories of modality and tense, as well as to the phenomenon of double negation and its functional role in different languages. The study demonstrates that the formation of negative sentences depends on the structural and typological features of a language and reflects the specificity of speakers’ linguistic cognition
