IMPLICIT MEANING AND CULTURAL CONTEXT IN ENGLISH INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION

Abstract

This article examines the role of implicit meaning and cultural context in English intercultural communication. The research analyzes how indirect speech acts, conversational implicatures, politeness strategies, irony, euphemisms, and metaphorical expressions function in intercultural discourse. Special attention is given to the influence of cultural norms and contextual factors on the interpretation of hidden meanings. The study is based on pragmatic and discourse analysis methods and relies on the theoretical works of prominent scholars in intercultural communication and pragmatics.
