ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: THREAT OR OPPORTUNITY? A BALANCED ANALYSIS OF ITS SOCIETAL IMPACT

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has evolved into a transformative force across multiple domains, including healthcare, education, and industry. While AI enhances efficiency, innovation, and decision-making, it also introduces risks such as job displacement, algorithmic bias, and ethical uncertainty. This study aims to examine AI as both an opportunity and a threat through a qualitative, interdisciplinary approach. A systematic review of recent literature (2022–2025) and real-world applications was conducted to identify key benefits and challenges. The findings indicate that AI is not inherently beneficial or harmful; rather, its impact depends on governance, ethical design, and human oversight. The study emphasizes the need for responsible AI development, global regulatory frameworks, and increased digital literacy to ensure sustainable and equitable outcomes
