Abstract

This article examines the functional activation of temporal means in speech situations from a modern linguistic perspective. It analyzes how tense, aspect, and temporal constructions operate as context-dependent elements influenced by discourse structure, speaker intention, and cognitive factors. The study applies a functional and discourse-based approach to reveal the dynamic nature of temporal expression in authentic communication. The findings demonstrate that temporal forms serve not only grammatical purposes but also play a crucial role in meaning construction and interactional coherence in diverse communicative contexts
