FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE AS A POETIC SYSTEM IN THE WORKS OF MARK TWAIN AND KHUDOYBERDI TOKHTABOEV: A COMPARATIVE AND FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS

Abstract

This article presents a comparative analysis of figurative language as a poetic system in the works of Mark Twain, a prominent representative of American literature, and Khudoyberdi Tokhtaboev, a leading figure in Uzbek children’s literature. The study focuses on the functional, aesthetic, psychological, and educational roles of figurative devices such as metaphor, simile, epithet, hyperbole, irony, humor, symbolism, allegory, and personification. Through comparative literary analysis, the research reveals both universal and culturally specific features of figurative language in children’s literature. Despite differences in historical and cultural contexts, both authors employ figurative language to shape moral values, develop aesthetic perception, and reflect children’s psychological worldviews
