METHODOLOGY FOR ASSESSING THE LEXICAL COMPONENT OF SPEECH IN CHILDREN WITH DELAYED PSYCHOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

This article examines the methodology for assessing the lexical component of speech in children with delayed psychological development. The lexical component, which includes vocabulary size, semantic organization, and word usage, plays a crucial role in overall speech competence and cognitive functioning. Children with developmental delays often demonstrate limited vocabulary, difficulties in word retrieval, and impaired semantic connections. The study analyzes modern diagnostic approaches, including structured observation, standardized testing, picture-based tasks, and interactive assessment techniques. Special attention is given to differentiating between passive and active vocabulary, as well as identifying qualitative features of lexical deficits. The findings highlight the importance of comprehensive and individualized assessment for designing effective corrective interventions and improving communicative abilities
