CONTEXT-BASED APPROACH IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING

Abstract

This article explains in a simple and clear way why a context-based approach is important in learning a foreign language. In many cases, students memorize words separately, but cannot use them correctly in a sentence. A context-based approach teaches language in real situations. That is, words and phrases are given through text, dialogue or real-life examples. Therefore, the student not only understands the meaning, but also learns where and how to use it. The article shows how this approach works and how it can be applied in the classroom. For example, by working with text, organizing conversations and giving tasks similar to real situations, students' interest in the language increases. Teaching through context helps to understand and learn the language rather than memorizing it and prepares the student for real communication
