FROM GAMEPLAY TO LANGUAGE MASTERY: THE EDUCATIONAL POTENTIAL OF MOBILE GAMES

In recent years, the rapid development of mobile technology has significantly transformed the landscape of language education. Mobile game-based language learning (MGLL) has emerged as an innovative and effective pedagogical approach, supported by a growing body of empirical research. This article synthesizes existing research on the role of mobile games in language learning, highlighting their impact on learner engagement, vocabulary acquisition, grammar development, and communicative competence. The article also identifies research gaps, including the need for longitudinal studies, culturally responsive designs, and the integration of adaptive learning technologies. It concludes that while mobile games hold substantial potential to revolutionize language learning, their effectiveness depends on thoughtful pedagogical integration and collaboration between educators, developers, and researchers
